Bed and breakfast

There is something about a bed and breakfast that invites me in. I think it’s the cozy ambiance emanating from the place. Or the homey feel of one. What I do know is that whenever I am in a bed and breakfast, I feel like I am home away from home!
I want to create memories for me and my family. More memories that the next generation will remember as they grow older. That’s why I love going on trips. It’s the best way to create tons of memories especially for the kids.

Sorry She! Meet me and my kids =)

Anika, Santi and Yours truly
I haven’t got time to check the email I am using for this blog. It’s been months now, I think. I always leave it to the reliable hands of my “cousin” who takes care of this blog when I am “on leave”. I am ashamed because I didn’t know a lot of bloggers have been thinking that Sherry and me are one person. Sherry or Sasha to most of you, is my “cousin”. She is my real cousin’s friend for the longest time now. We are therefore cousins as well. We met when she was still in college. She was the one who encouraged me to open a blog and try my hand in blogging.
She opened this blog for me, hosted in her own account. Helped me start my postings. Posts for me when I can’t blog. Drops Entrecard for me. Maintains this blog. Sometimes, replies to the comments for me. Helps me with monetizing. And so many more when it comes to blogging. She practically owns this blog, most especially that time I was in the hospital! We kept in touch through sms.
My real cousin, Fatima, was telling me to post about Sherry/Sasha and me because even her friends thought we are one person. Although we are both Chinese, I am pure Chinese while she’s a quarter I think. That’s me in the photo above. Although I blurred it a bit because that was taken when I was just a few weeks out of the hospital. Boohoo! That’s my daughter, Anika and my son, Santi.
Just to clear things up with everyone who ever had thoughts cross their minds that I am Sherry/Sasha. Ha! Ha! Sorry, She!
And so the holiday season begins…
I don’t know with your family, but with mine, the holiday season begins when September 1st steps in. It’s the Asian in us, I guess. Can you feel the air changing? It’s just full of barely concealed glee. In my home, everything bright is being taken out and put up. Curtains, rugs, pillow cases, bedsheets, everything, you name it.
Are you also like my family who treats September as the usher of the holiday season?
Have a happy and colorful September!
Busy as a bee
Yes, you read it right. I am busy as a bee right now. Trying to catch up with so many things both at work and at home. Of course, I work at home so there are many overlaps. Still, every little thing takes time to finish. I tell you, I am awake for 16 to 18 hours daily and it is never enough.
I am disappointed that the 2 tasks assigned to me was rescinded. It was a big amount but well, better luck next time. Both were due by next week but I guess they wanted me to finish it right away. I am hoping they will give it back. I really pray they do.
Anyway, I will post some more about what’s happening to me and the kids lately. In the next couple of posts
Learning to tolerate
No two person are alike. I have heard this line time and time again. I know it to be true, of course. Me and my brother are the primary example of this line. I am a bit impatient most of the time. I would get up very early if I have to meet someone on time. I don’t like having someone wait for me. And I expect the same courtesy. My brother, on the other hand, loves to take his sweet time over things. Easy going, you cannot rush him, I tell you. He’ll just snap at you when you pressure him to go faster than his normal way. That’s him.
But over time, especially when you mature, you learn how to tolerate these little idiosyncrasies of the persons around you. You learn how to tolerate their quirks. I have mine, you have yours, I am sure.
If you want harmony around you, tolerance is the key.
A fun weekend with the family

There is no place like home. Cliche but true. I love spending time with the family. It could either be going to other places. It could also be just hanging around the house. But wherever we are, as long as we’re together, that’s a blessing in itself.
Have a great, great week!
Off to la-la-land…
I will be off early today as I want to get enough sleep. The past few days, I have been sleeping around 3-4 hours every night and it’s taking its toll on me. I wake up feeling my eyes all gritty. I feel sluggish during the morning when I know I need to finish a dozen tasks or so. Then come night time, I feel like the day went by so fast and I am cramming to finish what I should have done in the morning.
It becomes a cycle.
So now, I will try to sleep earlier than usual, wake up refreshed tomorrow (hopefully) and try to finish things that have been pending for like years!
Have a great Friday everyone!
Quality time with your family
Spending time with the family does not mean that you are spending quality time with them. You can be physically present but emotionally, mentally, you are far away from them. Quality time means being physically, emotionally and mentally present. It would have to be more than just uttering mono-syllabic replies or watching meaningless tv shows with your family. There should be something more.
This topic just came to mind because I read a post by Lori of a Circle of Life. There are periods of time in our lives that we forget there are people around us who need our attention, our time. We constantly put work before everything else. We forget that work will continue being there even after we lose everything and everyone in our lives.
Stop living for work. Spend time with your family. Quality time where you are physically, emotionally and mentally present.
All about me :)
Do you like watching old movies? Oh yes, I do. I love those black and white movies. I love Audrey Hepburn and James Dean and all the other old actors whom I recognize only by their looks.
Have you ever been to New York City? Yes. I’ve been there once and although I am lured by the vibrant, bright lights of the city, I am appalled at how people are always rushing from one place to another. My friend is working there and whenever we talk, she always whines about not having a life outside of work. Plus she still has her student loan that she needs to pay off. Now, that’s a life that I don’t want. It will sustain you for a while but the pace will eventually kill you.
Would you ever live on an island? If there is an internet connection and electricity and water supply is not a problem, then yes.
Do you think you can dance? I can. I just don’t know if you can call it graceful ha ha ha.
Be honest, have you ever steamed open a piece of mail and then sealed it shut after peeking inside? Nope, never did
